Chairman Dr. G.G. Parikh

Chairman Dr. G.G. Parikh is a remarkable 99-year-old Indian freedom fighter who has dedicated his life to opposing oppression and advocating for liberty. His activism spans back to 1942 when he actively participated in the Quit India Movement, bravely standing against colonial rule.
During the tumultuous period of the 1975 Emergency, Dr. Parikh fearlessly continued his fight for democracy and human rights. Notably, he served as the chairman of the Bombay Student’s Congress on the eve of India’s Independence, embodying a lifelong commitment to social justice and national progress.
Dr. Parikh's legacy is one of resilience, courage, and unwavering dedication to the principles of freedom and equality.

Dharmendra Karan
Dharmendra Karan has been working at the center since 1995, initiating projects in five villages of Kutch following an earthquake. The first project involving jute bag production in Kutch began in 2015, engaging over 100 women across more than 10 villages in three talukas. Dharmendra holds a Bachelor's degree in Public Relations and a Master's degree in Mass Communication. As the Education Project Incharge, he is committed to empowering women through sustainable initiatives and community development in rural areas.

For 75 years, the Yusuf Meherally Centre has been actively working in Kutch since 1996, responding to disasters like earthquakes by providing relief efforts in five villages. Following this, they constructed approximately 350 permanent houses to support affected communities. Presently, the center continues its impactful work, focusing on ongoing initiatives aimed at community development and sustainable progress.

3 | Running Mundra Hindi and English School for children of industrial workers, providing free education, including transportation, meals, and uniforms. |
4 | Teaching computer skills for free to village children through their own school. |
5 | Operating a free hostel for children of the fisherman community in Bhadreshwar. |
6 | Operating craft manufacturing units in Bhadreshwar and 5 villages, providing training and employment to women. Currently, more than 100 women are employed across 5 units, each specializing in different crafts. |
